FIVE MINUTE Capitol Update for January 8th, 2013

A look ahead to the 2013 Legislative Session with host Marty Owings and analysis from Political Wonk Paul Gardner. This session will include a number of key issues that Minnesotan's will want to keep dialed in to. The budget is the first and biggest issue facing the Lagislature as they try to tackle a $1.1 billion dollar deficit. There are also a host of other compelling issues such as bonding, taxes, education and social issues like Gay Marriage, Gun Control and Property Tax Relief that are likely to come up this session.

Marty Owings and Paul Gardner co-host the only online political talk show broadcasting from the Capitol. DFL Supporters Cheer As Democrats Retain US Senate

Hundreds of supporters packed into to the Crowne Plaza hotel in Saint Paul to celebrate DFL victories in Minnesota. This clip shows the reaction when the gathered crowd sees the announcement flashed over the big screen showing that democrats had retained the US Senate. This reaction was nearly as boisterous as the one that came when Obama was announced the winner of the Presidential election.

Supporter Reilly Goodwin Talks About Obama's Re-election

Reilly Goodwin who lives in Minneapolis was one of the hundreds of Obama supporters that turned out at the DFL election night HQ at the Corwne Plaza in Saint Paul on election. Goodwin discusses what it means to her and her generation to see Obama re-elected. She also addresses some of the criticisms of President Obama. Goodwin discusses why she believes the election was more about economics and why Mitt Romney didn't connect with women voters.

Democrats In Saint Paul React To President Obama's Acceptance Speech - Election 2012

Several hundred supporters crowded into the ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Saint Paul to celebrate the re-election of President Barack Obama (D). Obama delivered his acceptance speech to a massive crowd in Chicago and it was broadcast on several giant screens at the DFL election night HQ. People shouted, cheered and some even wept openly during the Presidents speech.
